The EUMCA Executive Board, led by our Chairman, Ana Serrato, works collaboratively with the EUMCA management team to help develop the operational excellence of the organisation, and its priorities and work programme.

Ana Serrato
Chairman
Ana is a seasoned pharmaceutical executive with extensive expertise in innovative therapies, orphan drugs, and, more recently, Cannabinoid-Based Medicines (CBMs). With over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, she has held various leadership roles at both national and regional levels in major pharmaceutical companies and biotech startups.
Originally from Colombia, Ana relocated to Germany in 2019 to take on the role of Global Pharma Head at Clever Leaves. She later joined Avextra, where she currently leads the Clinical Development Team, driving innovative research and development in CBMs.
A passionate advocate for CBM research and scientific data-driven initiatives, Ana is dedicated to advancing patient-centric policies. She works tirelessly to promote accessible and compassionate medical solutions across Europe.
Ana holds a degree in Microbiology from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, Spain.

More than 20 years Operational experience: General Management, Commercial, Sales & Marketing with Blue Chip companies (GSK, MSD, LEO, Lediant Biosciences).
Over 13 years experience managing and selling rare disease products and unlicensed medicines in UK, Ireland, Nordics and EU.
Established Leadiant Biosciences (EU rare disease business) in the UK
Former Director and Co-Founder of LogixX Pharma
Jeremy Morais - Medical Director
An experienced, GMC registered pharmaceutical physician with a successful track record working with rare disease, generics and innovator medicines in a broad range of therapy areas.
Extensive experience working in clinical development, medical affairs, pharmacovigilance, medical information and compliance functions and managing head office and field-based teams in medical.
An ABPI final signatory for over 16 years with an excellent track record of managing successful national, regional and global multidisciplinary teams. Involved in planning and executing clinical trial and medical affairs strategies as well as change management processes to meet organisational requirements.
Has a strong interest in medicinal cannabis and its applications in clinical situations
Penny Lukats - Communications Director
Over more than 20 years in public relations and marketing communications she has developed a number of specialities, among them a notable capacity for drawing compelling, illuminating stories from research and data.
A blend of analytical skills, creative flair and commercial acumen drives Penny’s success in creating multi-faceted campaigns that capture the attention of the media and target audiences.
